Upper Elementary Lead Teacher
Elizabeth Honkanen graduated from the University of Saint Thomas with a BA in Elementary Education. She went on to get her Masters Degree in Education from Saint Mary’s University and a Kindergarten license from the University of Minnesota. She has taught for a number of years in the Saint Paul Public School District, grades K-6 where she has also served as a coach and mentor for other teachers. Her passion for teaching motivates her desire to provide her students with engaging lessons, high expectations, and a safe learning environment for both academics and social activities. She believes strongly in the philosophy of FIT Academy and hopes to bridge her vast experience and ideas with a curriculum that will allow each child to feel successful. Elizabeth is married with one child. She loves the outdoors, traveling with family, reading different kinds of genre, especially mystery books, biking and exercising with her husband and dog. She also enjoys spending time with her nephews and nieces, camping, playing mini golf and going to the movies during the summer.
